Tribute Paintings of Famous Painters

This new series of paintings began to materialize in my thought process as I watched the fine art market collapse. Collectors began to buy art as an asset, based on its commercial value. Paintings by well known artists went on the auction block for phenomenal prices while works by many good contemporary artists competed for space on gallery walls and were often overlooked. Many of these paintings were not necessarily good works of art but had the famous artist’s signature on the canvas.

I decided to select certain works of artists such as Tom Thomson, J.E.H. MacDonald, Sir Winston Churchill and others to see if I could match their skills and styles. What I have done is to interpret their paintings. Every painter has an individual palette or color sense which determines the outcome of their paintings. My palette is not the same as theirs.
